The compression method H.265 will become a new standard of IP–videosurveillance.

Implementation of the new format for highly efficiency video processing might have huge impact on video surveillance market in a short time. The main advantage of the new coding standard (H.265/HEVC) in comparison with H.264/MPEG-4 is decrease of be-trade approximately on 40% and the quality of received video stays the same. Thereby IP cameras that support the new standard will be able either to provide more qualitative video surveillance or decrease loading on net and data archive on 40%. Implementation of a new standard H.265/HEVC will give the possibility to increase the quantity of effective megapixels in net cameras. Arising of 10, 15, 20 megapixels cameras for video surveillance is just round the corner. The new codec also make possible to decrease digital noises and more clearly work off the WDR function.

Implementation of H.265 is inevitable but not before long

Realization of a new standard in IP cameras is inevitable for leading producers. Nevertheless, for it is necessary a few years for its implementation. It is more likely that the video surveillance market will pass on a new coding standard when such standard when such standard will be everywhere instilled in bigger market – consumers electronics.

Modern standard on video coding H.264/MPEG-4 was designed in 1999 and only recently become a standard on security market. Probably that everywhere implementation of the format H.265 will take a few years. However taking into accountant the IT sphere development rates and the period of innovations implementation, this stage could take much less time – 3-5 years. More likely, that leading producers represent first prototypes of IP cameras that support H.265 already in 2015. However, everywhere implementation of such format will be after passing of leading producers on security market on such format. And then all other producers will do the same.

Advantages of H.265 will be differed depending on producer

Advantages of new coding standard will be differed depending on producer. Despite the fact that all IP-cameras producers sooner or later pass on standard H.265 however it will not be the same for everybody. Therefore, each producer of equipment and software use its own firm technology of coding where the standard H.265 will be basic for creation of its own codec and depending on execution quality, different producers will have various pros and cons in video processing.

High quality of image, less requirement for the archive.

Although H.265/HEVC requires more computing resources for video processing than H.264, majority of modern ip-cameras are ready to manage with it. Moreover, computing power of modern processors rises each day, so implementation of the new standard should not stopped because of impossibility of hardware to process data.

Implementation of H.265/HEVC allows coming to the new stage of developing for video surveillance branch as well as increase the security level. In addition to the standards of high accuracy (HD) and (FullHD) the standard UHD (Ultra High Definition) – 4K (8,3 megapixels), 8К (33,2 megapixels) could be instilled everywhere. In addition, owing to more effective method of video compression there will not be necessary the serious reconstruction of archive system for video data. H.265 can support video processing till 300 ks that is very topical for some system of machine vision.

Today modern ip – cameras support video flow and contain MJEPG and H.264. However, within a next few years we will see cameras that will support MJPEG and H.265 at the market.
